Please read all before purchasing as there is important information regarding my process and timelines on the lines below. Thank you ♡.

First,

1. Select your piece:

  • cup (8oz approx.)
  • mug (12oz approx.)
  • small vase (15cm height)

2. Select your design
3. Select your handle
4. After making your purchase, I will contact you via e-mail to discuss colours, shape and special features you would like to represent in your piece.

Once we have discussed your creation:

Week 1:
I make a sketch for your approval.

Week 2:
I make the piece on the pottery wheel, trim it and let it dry enough so that I can start sculpting and attaching decorations.

Week 3:
Your piece is fully dry and ready to underglaze.

Week 4:
I bisque fire your piece. This means your piece goes on the kiln for its first fire.

Week 5:
I glaze your piece with clear glaze and put it back in the kiln but this time to high temperature. This makes your piece food safe. Once it comes out of the kiln, I sand its bottom and it is ready for pick up / shipping.

Some important things to keep in mind:

  • Rushing the drying process in any stage can be risky as it may cause cracks in the clay. This is one of the reasons why getting a custom piece takes time.

  • The firing processes in the kiln also take time. Kilns can take up to 13 hours to reach the desired temperature and then the same amount of time to cool down.

  • I will send updates and photos during the whole process. If there are any changes you want me to make, I will try my best to comply, but, if they are not that easy to make, I will keep working based on the approved sketch.

  • If one step of the process takes less time, I will inform you.

  • It is important to let you know that pottery can sometimes be disappointing as things can go wrong even if I make everything by the book. There is always a tiny margin of error because my pieces are made by hand. They can get tiny cracks or a little random spot of colour that don't affect their functionality. It is not common, but it is important to take this into account before starting the process.

  • If there are bigger problems in the kiln that do not allow your piece to be food safe (eg. a big crack inside), I will have to re-make the piece. This is not common, but it has to be pointed out.
